Andalusia is Spain as you have always imagined: whitewashed hilltop villages, Moorish palaces, orange blossom, gracefully dressed matadors, flamenco dancers, carnivals, beaches with high waves and sherry bodegas. There is a wealth of magnificent monuments, from the little-known Roman ruins in Seville to the Alhambra Palace in Granada. And the region has more surprises: horseback riding through chestnut forests of Aracena and walking with snowshoes on Spain's highest mountain peak in the Sierra Nevada. There are more tapas bars than in any Spanish region whatsoever, and the quality and variety, particularly with regard to seafood, is unbeatable.
Andalusia

Granada

In Granada you will find the Alhambra, a beautiful example of the magical architecture. The enchanting gardens of the Generalife, carefully landscaped with fountains and Moorish water works great, makes you feel that you have ended up in the story of a thousand and one nights.
Here you can also find the Sierra Nevada, the second highest mountain range in Europe. It is possible to go skiing here and then take the one hour trip to the beach to take a swim..all in one day. For more information: www.cetursa.es . An also known place is the Alpujarras, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada.
Between Granada and Motril on the coast you will find two (still) unknown valleys, a tropical and subtropical, the Vallé de Lécrin. In the spring you are overwelmed by the sweet scent of oranges and the mountain slopes which are soft pink from the almond blossoms, contrast beautifuly against the white backdrop of the Sierra Nevada and the bright blue sky.
Antequera

Near Antequera, between Seville and Granada, lies the natural park of El Torcal. This is a capricious natural phenomenon: the mountain is miraculously eroded, leaving a ghostly moonscape.
Near here you will find Fuente de la Piedra, a moss area where many water birds, including flamingos, can be admired.
The Coast
Andalusia is truly Mediterranean. It is sunny all year round. The average temperature rises over 16 ° C in February to over 30 ° C in August. In the inland around Ronda, thanks to its elevated position, there is a pleasant climate, with a gentle breeze during the day and a pleasant chill at night. With this friendly climate here it is almost the whole year round delightful to be outside.
Climate
The Costa del Sol is well known: the names Marbella, Fuengirola and Torremolinos gives most of us instant images of luxury resorts. Still relatively unknown to tourists is the Costa Tropical south of Granada. The most attractive seaside resort is Almunecar and the most spectacular is the mountain peak which seems to fall into the sea of Salobrena. On top of the mountain stands a proud Moorish castle, surrounded by the white village houses, towering above the sea.
